But BC Transit buses, double decker buses and regular buses alike, are changing colors and the new livery design which started to appear in early 2009 will not be reminiscent of the London red buses anymore.Watch the old and the new livery and the old and new double decker bus colors in this video to see the big difference in appearance. One double decker bus replaces 2 regular buses and saves more than $40 per hour in operating costs.It is interesting that Victoria and Kelowna, both in BC which stands for British Columbia, were the first cities in North America where double decker buses were first introduced into mass public transit system in 2000.BC Transit which operates in Kelowna and Victoria as well as in all other cities in BC except those in Metro Vancouver, had 29 double decker buses in June 2003. 26 were in Victoria and 3 in Kelowna.They were the TransBus International Trident 3 buses made in the United Kingdom. They were called TransBus Trident 3 or Dennis Trident 3.In elina svitolina 2002 the Trident 3 was modified and given a new name Eviro500 or Dennis Enviro500. In 2004 it became Alexander Dennis Enviro500. In the summer of 2008 16 new double decker buses worth about 13 million dollars were added to service in Victoria.TransBus Trident 3 or Dennis Trident 3 is a 3 axle low floor double decker bus manufactured from 1997 to 2002. Since the modification in 2002 it had a new name of Dennis Enviro500 and since 2004 Alexander Dennis Enviro500.It comes in 2 heights, 4.3 and 4.2 meters and 4 different lengths: 10.3, 10.6, 11.3 and 12.8 meters and it's 2.55 meters wide. Its Cummins engine has 330 hp.Alexander Dennis freiburg fc Enviro500 double decker buses are operated in public transit systems in Canada in Victoria, Kelowna, Ottawa and Toronto.In the USA in Las Vegas, Nevada, San Luis Obispo, CA and Snohomish County, WA. They are also in Dublin, Ireland, Glasgow, Scotland and in Hong Kong.Alexander Dennis makes the buses in the UK. In 2008 they signed a deal to have their buses for the North American markets assembled by ElDorado National.It is not clear if the buses are now in fact assembled in the US or not.Enjoy.
