Judge Roslan Mat Nor ruled that issues concerning Bloomberg Malaysia’s pleadings on the article titled “Everyone Gets A Cut, And Migrant Workers Pay The Price” require full examination at trial and cannot be decided summarily. Among matters needing scrutiny are whether Bloomberg Malaysia was involved in the publication or has control over the Bloomberg main website, which states it is operated by Bloomberg LP in New York. The court also ordered RM5,000 in costs. Bloomberg’s counsel argued the article was published by the parent company, while the plaintiffs’ lawyer said Bloomberg Malaysia’s role must be tested at trial.
