Thunderstorms concentrated over the northeastern Gulf now have a 20% chance of developing over the next 2 to 3 days, and the forecast setup is starting to change.

Earlier, Florida looked more likely to see heavier rain from this system. Now, the trend is ethan belchetz shifting left, which may keep the heaviest rain away from much of Florida and allow the system to drift farther west across the northern Gulf. That matters because more time over water could give this area a better chance to organize. If development occurs, the next named storm would be Bertha.
