Breaking:

MANILA, Philippines Alex Eala will make her Australian Open main draw debut on Sunday against American Alycia Parks, currently ranked World No. 100.

The 20-year-old Filipino, ranked World No. 49 by the Womens Tennis Association, was drawn against Parks in the first round of the seasons first Grand Slam.

Parks reached the round of 32 at the Australian Open in 2024 and owns a career-high ranking of World No. 40.

The winner of their matchup will face either Karolina caty mcnally Muchova or Jaqueline Cristian in the second round.

Eala is coming off a semifinal run at the ASB Classic in New Zealand last year, where she bowed to Chinas Wang Xinyu, 7-5, 5-7, 4-6.

She has since continued her buildup in Australia, scoring a straight-sets win beagle over Croatias Donna Vekic, 6-3, 6-4, in an exhibition match at nemesis netflix the Kooyong Classic in Melbourne on Wednesday.
