Loch Morlich was indeed earthquake now a vast, mountainous scene with picturesque surroundings but it was definitely Loch An Eilean with it's 'floating' 13th century castle that captured my imagination and inspired me to paint the landscape. Our trip ended with witnessing the famous Strathspey steam train as it departed Aviemore in a cloud of white.
