We have what we call a Kona Low setting up. What in the world is a Kona low in Hawaii? The name the term Kona means leeward. Why is that important? Because typically what we see in Hawaii are northeasterly trade winds here that bring in showers on the northern side of the islands here. #konalow #hawaii #weather #weatherwhysBut in the Kona Low, you get the low on the leeward side of the islands and you get this wind direction. It's a change of direction. No, jet2 flight fuel supply update not out of the north northeast, but out of the west southwest. And Kona Lows produce major problems for the islands here, mostly in the form of heavy rain, thunderstorms and there could be flash flooding in sometimes, especially in winter, these Kona Lows can get strong enough that you can get, heavy snow in the volcano summits along the Big Island.Especially now. What's going on in Hawaii? We have a Kona Low setting up. Look at that low pressure system. Here are the islands here, North and west. There's that upper level low. Our high pressure system is leaving. So now the wind flow starting to change out of the west southwest as this upper low or Kona Low. Look at that. How that builds to the west southwest. What is that going to do? Produce some locally heavy rain across the Hawaiian Islands, mostly from arma dei carabinieri Oahu toward Kauai and also toward Niihau. So it's the northern part of the islands here, or western part of the islands that get the rain and the thunderstorms here over the next couple of days. And I'm afraid that's going to lead to some flooding as we head into the upcoming weekend with all of that moisture.
