Baker Mayfield has officially addressed his ongoing contract situation with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, confirming that negotiations remain at a standstill as the team heads toward training camp.

Mayfield, who is entering the final year of his three-year, $100 million deal, revealed that there has been pretty much the same lack of progress in extension talks. The former No. 1 overall pick also made it clear that he plans to put contract discussions aside once training camp begins, choosing instead to focus entirely on preparing for the 2026 NFL season.

Despite the uncertainty, Mayfield remains one of the most productive quarterbacks in the league over the past three seasons, leading the Buccaneers to consecutive NFC South titles and multiple playoff appearances before a disappointing finish in 2025.

However, Tampa Bays front office reportedly has concerns about long-term durability and consistency, especially after a late-season slump. Still, Mayfield has not missed a start since joining the organization and continues to defend his reliability as a franchise quarterback.

With both sides currently far apart on an extension, the Buccaneers face a critical decision about Mayfields future beyond this season.
