The reality: • Illinois has an estimated 450,000–550,000 undocumented immigrants • Nearly 300,000 Illinois residents are actively seeking work • Chicago unemployment is around 4.5% • Illinois does not require immigration status for many public services Chicago taxpayers are paying some of the highest property taxes in the nation.
